Fall Season Kick-off, A Championship and Training Camp Continues

Overall proud of the players buying into the team system with a focus on accountability, responsibility and respect. We had a few glitches and steps backward over the first 8 days, but overall moving forward in becoming a team and putting the team first. Heavy focus on Dzone and Neutral Zone in practices with the puck and players adapted well over the weekend games and drylands as we worked up positioning and scenarios without the puck. All-in-all, very respectable and proud of their accomplishments, players should be proud as well.

A few highlights from the weekend included a 4-0-1 record, including 3 shutouts, outscoring the opponents 16-4 in all 5 games combined and 8-0 in semis and finals. A few more penalties than I’d like to admit but something the players are working to improve on; but at the same time learning some Penalty Kill tactics and positioning was definitely a highlight and strength of the weekend not allowing a single Power Play goal against and capitalizing a couple times while short-handed.

After a well deserved day off today after going 7 straight days with multiple skates, the team is back at it tomorrow getting ready for the Twisted Writer Tournament starting Friday. Looking forward to the continued success, hard work and dedication by these players as we strive for greatness with an end goal of a Silver Sticks championship in November.
