First Five Game Recap

Summit - December 1, 2017

Rough start to the season as Summit goes up 4 goals within 6 shots. Chargers find themselves in a hole that they were unable to dig out of, ending the game with the final score 3-8. Kayden Dormer and Mitchell Rodvold fought hard to keep the team in it. Coach Riegel states, "We weren’t prepared and motivated for the season. They were more hungry then we were."

Air Academy - December 2, 2017

The Chargers came out strong today with a 6-0 win over Air Academy! Nick had the first shutout for the Chatfield Chargers in 4 years. Outstanding! Kayden Dormer netted the first goal on the breakaway of the game. Player of the game goes to Nicholas Faraco-Hadlock. Coach was pleased to say, "“Better start from the night before, had good energy to create opportunities”.

Liberty - December 7, 2017

Our Chargers were off to a slow start in their game against Liberty, but they were able to bounce back for three goals in a four minute time period!  Refusing to give up, they ended strong with a 5-1 victory. Nick had 35 saves on 36 shots! Another incredible performance in the net! Player of the match, Ben Bleyle, plus 3 with several key takeaways. Words from Coach Geoff after the game, "After a slow start they rallied around and got it together. Still need to work on competing for three periods".

Mullen - December 8, 2017

The Chargers came out strong with effort and power against the Mustangs Friday night! An incredible back and forth battle between teams that unfortunately ended in Mullens favor with a final score of 2-3. Coach Riegel thought the team struggled in the third quarter with selfish play and lack of communication, ultimately costing them the game. The boys had to compete against one of the top goalies in the state, but proved that they could score with power. Player of the game goes to Tyler Wathen, showing consistency throughout the game to keep the puck moving.

Air Academy - December 11, 2017

The Chatfield varsity ice hockey team had a second shot at Air Academy on Monday night, but were unable to come out victorious this time. Kayden Dormer gave the team some energy after netting a trick shot that got the Chargers their second goal, earning him player of the game. However, their efforts brought them to the final score of 2-6. After dropping to the team the Chargers beat last week, Coach states, "not working as a team and not caring about each other costed the Chargers a loss for the game”.
